KUALA LUMPUR, 25 June 2026 – Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp), the strategic think tank and agency under the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), today organised the GBS Internship Fair 2026 in collaboration with the Digital Global Business Services Council Malaysia (GBS Malaysia), Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU), and the Contact Centre Association of Malaysia (CCAM).
Held at APU, this programme brought together more than 5,000 students from APU as well as universities and TVET institutions across the Central Region, alongside more than 40 employers from the Global Business Services (GBS) sector offering over 500 internship opportunities.
The initiative aims to strengthen the pathway from education to employment, particularly within the rapidly growing GBS sector, which encompasses high-value fields such as Finance and Accounting, IT and Digital, Data, Business Services, Customer Operations, analytics, process improvement, and AI-enabled services.

According to Ms Biruntha Mooruthi, Group Chief Executive Officer of TalentCorp, the GBS Internship Fair 2026 comes at a timely moment as youth employability, youth unemployment, and skills mismatches continue to require closer collaboration between the government, industry, and education institutions.
"Malaysia's labour market remains resilient. However, the transition from education to employment continues to be a challenge, particularly as the youth unemployment rate for those aged 15 to 24 stands at 10.2 per cent, involving more than 290,000 individuals. At the same time, 1.93 million tertiary-educated workers remain in skills-related underemployment.
This demonstrates that qualifications alone are insufficient without the skills, exposure, and job readiness that align with industry demands," she said.
"Preparing young Malaysians for the future of work is a shared responsibility. When the government, universities, TVET institutions, and employers work together, the pathway from education to employment becomes clearer and more practical. This is the approach needed to ensure Malaysian graduates are not left behind in a rapidly evolving economy," she added.
TalentCorp also continues to strengthen Malaysia's internship ecosystem through various initiatives, including the National Structured Internship Programme (MySIP), the Internship Placement Matching Grant for SMEs and StartUp (LiKES), and the implementation of the 1:3 Internship Policy. These initiatives are designed to help employers provide more high-quality internship placements, reduce participation barriers particularly for SMEs and startups, and encourage closer collaboration between industry and educational institutions to ensure students receive structured workplace exposure that is relevant to current market needs.

Chairperson of GBS Malaysia, Raymond Davadass, said that the GBS Internship Fair 2026 is not merely about internship placements, but a strategic investment in the future of Malaysia’s Global Business Services (GBS) industry. “Our priority is to build a sustainable talent pipeline by developing industry-ready graduates equipped with digital, analytical, and professional skills that are relevant to current industry needs.
“Malaysia’s GBS sector continues to demonstrate positive momentum, with a 66 per cent increase in the number of GBS companies since 2021, 13.5-fold growth in investments, and the creation of more than 36,000 new job opportunities. To sustain this momentum, collaboration between industry, academia, and the government must continue to be strengthened.
The collaboration between TalentCorp, APU, CCAM, and GBS Malaysia reflects a shared commitment to connecting students with meaningful industry exposure and clearer career pathways, thereby strengthening the nation’s talent ecosystem and reinforcing Malaysia’s position as a competitive digital GBS hub in the region,” he added.

The GBS Internship Fair 2026 also provides students with a direct platform to engage with employers through exhibition booths, resume review sessions, walk-in interviews, career talks, hackathon activities, and networking opportunities with industry leaders.
Among the companies supported under TalentCorp's MySIP participating in the event are Daythree Business Services, SLB, Experian Malaysia, Telecontinent, The Access Group, Transcosmos Malaysia, SCICOM, and Standard Chartered Bank. These companies play an important role in providing quality workplace exposure for local students.
The GBS Internship Fair 2026 reflects the continued commitment of TalentCorp and its strategic industry partners to connect policy, data, and implementation in strengthening graduate employability, supporting future talent development, and helping Malaysia build a workforce that is better prepared for high-growth sectors.
