TalentCorp Brings AI Skills Directly to Sabah Communities Through JAM Batu Sapi

SANDAKAN, 31 July 2026 – More than 300 Sabahans, including students, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) learners, educators, jobseekers, entrepreneurs and members of the local community, gathered in Sandakan today as Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) brought practical AI learning and future-ready skills directly to the Batu Sapi community through the 15th edition of Jelajah AI MyMahir (JAM) TalentCorp.
Organised by TalentCorp, an agency and strategic think tank under the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), the programme forms the MADANI Government's commitment to ensuring access to future skills is not confined to major cities but reaches communities across the country.

Officiated by TalentCorp Deputy Chairman, Encik Mohd Khuzzan bin Abu Bakar, on behalf of YB Datuk Khairul Firdaus bin Akbar Khan, Deputy Minister of Human Resources, the programme equips participants with practical AI knowledge that can be applied in learning, employment, entrepreneurship and everyday life, while supporting Sabah's aspirations under Sabah Maju Jaya 2.0 (2026-2030) and the Thirteenth Malaysia Plan to strengthen competitiveness, productivity and digital adoption.
YB Datuk Khairul Firdaus said every Malaysian should have equal opportunities to prepare for the future economy, regardless of where they live.
"The nation's transformation will not be successful if the benefits of development are concentrated only in major cities. The MADANI Government is committed to ensuring that human capital development reaches all Malaysians, regardless of location. Whether in Kuala Lumpur, Kota Kinabalu or Batu Sapi, every individual deserves equal opportunities to enhance their skills and build a better future.
"Through initiatives such as Jelajah AI MyMahir TalentCorp, KESUMA is bringing access to new knowledge and future-ready skills closer to communities nationwide, including Sabah, so that more Malaysians are prepared to seize the opportunities created by technological change," he said.
As part of the programme, five secondary school students received laptops after winning the AI Future Vision Competition, which challenged participants to explore how AI could be used to solve real-world community challenges through creativity and critical thinking. The prizes were presented by YB Datuk Khairul Firdaus.
The competition complemented TalentCorp's broader talent development efforts in Batu Sapi. In the days leading up to the event, TalentCorp’s YES! Rock the School engagements reached five secondary schools in the constituency, exposing students to STEM, TVET and future career pathways before JAM TalentCorp extended that learning through practical AI exposure.
JAM TalentCorp participants received hands-on exposure to AI fundamentals and practical applications across learning, careers, productivity, creativity, cybersecurity and robotics. They also explored how AI can support key sectors in Sabah, including tourism, agriculture, fisheries, manufacturing, services and small businesses.

Batu Sapi marks the 15th edition of Jelajah AI MyMahir TalentCorp, following earlier editions across Peninsular Malaysia and Sabah. The nationwide initiative will continue to more parliamentary constituencies as TalentCorp expands access to AI knowledge and future-ready skills across the country.
