TALENTCORP STRENGTHENS MALAYSIA’S TALENT ECOSYSTEM THROUGH MyBAKAT

KUALA LUMPUR, 8 October 2026 – Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) today marked a new phase in its 15-year journey of advancing Malaysia’s talent agenda with the introduction of MyBakat, bringing TalentCorp’s local talent development initiatives under a clearer and more connected framework.
MyBakat was introduced at the inaugural Minggu MyBakat by TalentCorp 2026, which drew 3,000 participants and brought together talent, employers, industry, government, education and training institutions, and strategic partners.
The event also saw the introduction of the Malaysia Talent Readiness Index (MyTRI) and the MyBakat Talent Incubation Programme (MyBIG), two intervention initiatives that strengthen TalentCorp’s approach to identifying talent readiness and gaps, while developing talent based on industry needs.

Minister of Human Resources YB Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan said talent development must move in step with Malaysia’s economic direction, particularly as technology, AI, digitalisation and the green economy continue to reshape jobs and the skills required.
“We can bring in investment and technology, and build new industries. But if we do not have Malaysians with the skills these industries need, we have a challenge. We need to look ahead at which jobs will grow, what skills will be required, and how we prepare Malaysians to seize these opportunities,” he said.
He said TalentCorp, as a strategic think tank under the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), supports the Government in understanding the country’s talent needs, anticipating shifts in the labour market and ensuring talent development remains aligned with economic and industry needs.
“Through TalentCorp’s National Talent Incubation Ecosystem (NTIE) and Future Skills Talent Council (FSTC) model, industry is involved from the outset in shaping relevant training. This approach helps develop industry-ready and future-ready talent, with clearer pathways to skills and quality jobs, while strengthening Malaysia’s competitiveness,” he said.
Since its establishment in 2011, TalentCorp has continued to evolve alongside Malaysia’s economy, industries and labour market. Over the past 15 years, its role has expanded to anticipate shifts in jobs and skills, identify future talent needs, and work with industry to prepare Malaysians for the changing world of work.

TalentCorp Chairperson Ms. Elizabeth Wong said TalentCorp’s strength throughout this journey has been its ability to connect different parts of Malaysia’s talent ecosystem.
“Our strength lies in connecting economic needs with talent development, industry with education and training institutions, and most importantly, Malaysians with opportunities.
“Fifteen years on, we have built a strong foundation for the next chapter — ensuring TalentCorp remains relevant to Malaysians, trusted by industry and able to support the Government in making better decisions on talent,” she said.

Held under the theme “Bakat Negara, Nadi Malaysia”, the inaugural Minggu MyBakat at the Connexion Conference & Event Centre (NEXUS), Bangsar attracted 3,000 participants from across different talent segments, with 65 exhibition booths and 15 activities throughout the day spanning industry insights, skills development, mentoring and opportunities to engage directly with employers and ecosystem partners.
The event was officiated by YB Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan, Minister of Human Resources, and attended by YB Datuk Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, Deputy Minister of Human Resources, alongside representatives from government, industry, employers, education and training institutions, and strategic partners.
Minggu MyBakat will continue as an annual TalentCorp event, bringing more opportunities directly to Malaysians to build their skills, connect with industry and prepare for the changing world of work.
