TalentCorp Launches Career Awareness Series At IBBM Financial Services Industry (FSI) Careers 2012 Fair

Kuala Lumpur, 23 October 2012 - Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad’s (TalentCorp) launched its career awareness series, with a booklet titled “Financial Services Sector: Be a part of a world of exciting opportunities” at the IBBM Financial Services Industry (FSI) Careers 2012 fair held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre last weekend. “The career awareness series is targeted at young Malaysian talent, especially university students; to expose and connect them to the many exciting career opportunities in key economic sectors, particularly arising from Malaysia’s economic transformation,” explained Kamal Nawawi, General Manager, Malaysian Talent Development, TalentCorp.

“The career awareness series is part of TalentCorp’s priority towards optimising Malaysian talent and will be extended to cover all key sectors,” Kamal added. The financial services booklet was distributed to talent attending the IBBM fair, being the only specialised career fair focused on financial services in Malaysia. The IBBM fair featured Malaysia’s leading financial institutions taking up exhibition-cum-info booths and delivering career talks promoting the career opportunities available.

In the career awareness series for finance, industry leaders and young talent in finance help shed light on the industry landscape, identify job areas in high demand and share what it takes to succeed. “Competitiveness now relies on knowledge and innovation,” said Chief Executive Officer of IBBM Tay Kay Luan, on the changing landscape of the financial services industry. Ronnie Lim, Executive Vice President, Alliance Bank shares how consumer banking is the new ‘glamorous sector’ of banking and within it, wealth management as the ‘new frontier’.

A recurring theme from Malaysia’s leading financial institutions is that financial services is growing strongly and going international, thus promising a great future for talent. “Go Ahead. Grow – is what talents can look forward to,” emphasises Nora Manaf, Head of Group Human Capital, Maybank with ready opportunities for talent in Malaysian and 19 other countries. “Create history with us. Here you can become a complete banker,” invites Hamidah Naziadin, Head of Group Corporate Resources, CIMB.

TalentCorp will also be driving career awareness via newspapers articles, in addition to forming partnerships with universities to organise other sector-focused career fairs by the end of the month. The objective of these initiatives is to contribute towards greater awareness and interest among talents both young and old in the challenging, dynamic, and high-income career opportunities now available in Malaysia.
