KUALA LUMPUR, 6 October 2026 – Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp), an agency and strategic think tank under the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), together with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), is strengthening collaboration across government, industry, academia and training providers to develop the talent needed for Malaysia’s evolving communications and multimedia sector.
Underpinning this effort is the Impact Study on Artificial Intelligence, Digital and the Green Economy on the Malaysian Workforce for the Communications and Multimedia Sector, jointly undertaken by TalentCorp and MCMC and launched on 5 October 2026. The study mapped 268 job roles and 748 skills, while identifying four emerging roles within the sector.
The findings also support MCMC’s development of the Communications and Multimedia Future Skills Framework (C&M FSF) by providing a data-driven foundation to better align skills requirements, talent development and career pathways with the evolving needs of industry.

Deputy Minister of Human Resources, YB Datuk Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan, said talent development must keep pace with economic shifts and changing industry needs to ensure Malaysia remains competitive.
“The collaboration between TalentCorp and MCMC is important because it gives us a clearer view of the skills industry needs — not only today, but in the years ahead.
“Malaysia must stay ahead in preparing our workforce for the future. This is why KESUMA places strong emphasis on talent development that is grounded in data, driven by industry needs, and delivered through close collaboration between government, industry, and education and training institutions.
“Our aim is to ensure Malaysians have the relevant skills to seize new opportunities, industries have access to the talent they need to grow, and the country has a workforce capable of supporting productivity and long-term economic growth.”
The study identified four emerging roles: Artificial Intelligence Engineer, Artificial Intelligence Ethics Officer and Edge Computing Specialist in telecommunications, as well as Head of Postal Inspectorate in the postal and courier subsector.
It also mapped 748 skills, spanning areas such as future networks, cybersecurity, cloud computing, data analytics, digital content production, responsible AI adoption and automation.
TalentCorp Group Chief Executive Officer, Puan Biruntha Mooruthi, said the study provides a foundation for translating industry needs into more targeted talent development interventions.
“Through TalentCorp’s Future Skills Talent Council, we bring employers, government, academia and training providers together to build a shared understanding of industry’s skills needs and determine the actions required.
“The goal is to develop the right skills, create clearer career pathways, and connect Malaysians to opportunities in sectors that continue to grow.”

Beyond identifying workforce and skills needs, the joint TalentCorp–MCMC study proposes 29 strategic initiatives across the three subsectors. These include developing future technology talent, strengthening AI and digital capabilities, aligning education with industry requirements, and advancing the responsible adoption of technology and green economy practices.
The collaboration supports KESUMA’s broader efforts to build a future-ready workforce shaped by data and industry needs, while ensuring that technological progress goes hand in hand with the development of Malaysian talent.
