KESUMA, TalentCorp Strengthen Engagement with Malaysian Talent in Indonesia through Salam Dari Malaysia @ Jakarta

Guidelines under the Returning Expert Programme (REP), developed in collaboration with the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA)
JAKARTA, 7 October 2026 – The Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA), through Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp), continues to strengthen engagement with Malaysian talent in Indonesia through Salam Dari Malaysia @ Jakarta, held yesterday as part of efforts to deepen the Malaysian diaspora’s connection with the country’s talent and economic development.
The programme brought together Malaysians in Indonesia to strengthen professional networks, explore opportunities for collaboration, and create more meaningful pathways for them to contribute their experience, expertise and international networks to Malaysia.
During the programme, KESUMA, through TalentCorp, also launched the Entry Permit Application Guidelines under the Returning Expert Programme (REP), developed in collaboration with the Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA). The guidelines provide clearer information for Malaysian professionals and their families who are considering returning home.

Minister of Human Resources, YB Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan, said Malaysia’s diaspora plays an important role in supporting the country’s talent needs as the economy expands into higher-value industries.
“Malaysia is attracting investment and developing high-value industries, but investment alone is not enough. We must ensure that the country has the talent, skills and expertise needed to support this growth and create better jobs for Malaysians.
“This is where the Malaysian diaspora has strategic value. Their experience in international markets and industries can help Malaysia build capabilities, expand economic networks and accelerate talent development in areas that the country needs.”
The newly launched guidelines provide a clearer and more structured reference on the Entry Permit application process for the foreign spouses and biological children below the age of 18 of REP recipients, including eligibility requirements, required documentation and application procedures.
Through this pathway, eligible foreign spouses and biological children who have been issued an Entry Permit may apply for Permanent Resident (PR) status, subject to approval by the relevant authorities.
YB Dato’ Sri Ramanan Ramakrishnan said efforts to attract Malaysian expertise home must also recognise the practical considerations that shape an individual’s decision to return.
“For many professionals, returning to Malaysia is not simply a question of a job or salary. It is a decision that involves their spouse, their children and their family’s future.
“These guidelines provide greater clarity for REP recipients and their families, enabling those considering a return to Malaysia to plan that journey with greater confidence.”

TalentCorp Group CEO, Ms. Biruntha Mooruthi, said Salam Dari Malaysia forms part of TalentCorp’s broader approach to maintaining meaningful connections between Malaysians abroad and Malaysia’s talent and economic ecosystem.
“Malaysians in Indonesia bring a unique perspective because they understand both markets. We want to translate their experience, expertise and networks into stronger connections with Malaysia — whether through industry collaboration, mentoring, knowledge sharing, business opportunities, or returning home when they are ready.”

This engagement is supported through Malaysia@Heart (MyHeart), including MyHeart Global Connect, which connects the experience, expertise and networks of Malaysians abroad with Malaysia’s talent development needs.
Salam Dari Malaysia @ Jakarta was organised in collaboration with the Embassy of Malaysia in Jakarta, Malaysia Chamber of Commerce Indonesia (MCCI), Malaysian student associations and strategic partners, strengthening TalentCorp’s continued engagement with the Malaysian community in Indonesia.
