Time Is Right For Malaysian Graduates To Get Qualified

17 September 2013

Employers will be able to fast track the development of finance and accounting graduates, thanks to a new pilot launched by Talent Corporation Malaysia (TalentCorp) and CPA Australia at the CPA Congress 2013 today.

Under the Get Qualified! Fund, TalentCorp will meet up to half of the fees of graduates who are employed for less than six months to complete professional development training through the CPA Australia program.

TalentCorp CEO Johan Mahmood Merican said the collaboration with CPA Australia was to encourage leading employers, especially in the fast growing shared services industry to jointly invest with the Government in Malaysia's young talent, particularly in upskilling them with an international qualification like the CPA.

“A strategic priority for TalentCorp is to optimise Malaysian talent, especially our young Malaysian graduate talent. This initiative will not only help employers by enhancing the quality of the talent pipeline. It will also ensure our Malaysian graduates are better placed to access the dynamic and international opportunities arising from the economic transformation, such as the increasing number of regional and global shared services finance centres based in Malaysia,” added Johan.

“A CPA qualification is an important and valuable recognition of technical and professional competency. Thanks to this joint collaboration, Malaysian graduates will be on the fast track to this globally regarded delegation.”

CPA Australia chief executive, Alex Malley, said the organisation was delighted to be working with TalentCorp in building the skills and capacity of Malaysian finance and accounting graduates.

“CPA Australia firmly believes in the importance of supporting both employers and employees in building capacity and professional experience.

“With more than 144,000 members worldwide, CPA Australia has had a presence in Malaysia for more than 56 years. We look forward to working with TalentCorp in building the next generation of Malaysian business leaders.”
